Beginner biking meets at the hospital’s Education Center every Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. during the summer months to do a 5-15 mile ride. The group was started by Diane-Marie Colby, Patient Accounting manager at WCGH, with help from many other hospital employees and Journey to Health members.
Beginner Biking will start up again next spring (2012). In addition to Tuesday night rides, the group has done occasional weekend rides up to 30 miles, and even participated in rides such as the Lobster Ride & Roll in Rockland, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine’s “Women’s Ride” in Freeport, and the Tour de Merrymeeting Bay.
