The Cancer Resource Center is housed in our Oncology and Infusion Therapy Center and is a resource for cancer patients and their families to help in obtaining information about cancer, treatment and local resources.
The Center is located in the Oncology Suite on the main floor of Waldo County General Hospital, 118 Northport Avenue, Belfast, Maine. There is a large selection of brochures, books and videos available in our free lending library.
For your use in obtaining information and answers to questions, the Cancer Resource Center has a computer with user-friendly access to health and cancer related web sites.
The Oncology Suite is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Cancer Resource Center also offers, through the American Cancer Society, Reach to Recovery, a volunteer support system for individuals facing breast cancer, and Road to Recovery, a program with volunteer drivers to transport cancer patients to doctor’s appointments, radiation treatments or oncology visits in Belfast, Bangor, Waterville or Portland. Also offered is Look Good, Feel Better, where volunteer cosmetogists teach individuals how to cope with skin changes and hair loss.
Waldo County General Hospital’s Cancer Education and Support Group for anyone who has or has had cancer and their family members and friends meets the second Monday of each month from 4:45 pm. to 6:15 p.m. in the hospital’s Education Center. More
