Women & Infants Health Care Unit (WIHCU)

About the Unit

Welcome to Waldo County General Hospital’s Women and Infants Health Care Unit. Comfort and privacy for mom and her family is the focus of our birthing unit. All rooms in which patients labor, deliver and recover are private and designed for comfort.

Our Facilities:

Our patient-family kitchen is open to our patient’s families around the clock. The kitchen is regularly stocked with coffee, (and coffee condiments.) juices, crackers, tea, hot chocolate, ice cream, popsicles, toast, cereal, soup and ice water. The kitchen also has plates, bowls, napkins and easting utensils for you and your families’ convenience.

We have two generously sized birthing rooms. A roll-a-way bed is available for your birthing coach upon request.

We have two whirlpool tubs available for our laboring patients to use. Sometimes when laboring moms use warm water as a means for pain control, they can avoid pain medication. However, your physician’s permission is required to use the whirlpool tubs.

Additionally we have four identical postpartum rooms. All rooms are equipped with a telephone, flat-screen television, rocking chair, and pullout chair. All rooms have their own private bathroom with a single shower.

Once again, the comfort and privacy for mom and her family is the focus of our birthing unit.  We hope that you choose to share your special occasion with us!
