Waldo County General Hospital’s New Year’s Baby 2011 was born Jan. 1 at 7:07 a.m. The baby girl, Remington Smith, tipped the scales at 7.5 pounds. Mom, Shara Allen of Searsmont, was scheduled to have a cesarean section on Jan. 3 but when she went into labor Saturday, the surgery was moved up.  Shown here with the baby and her mother are big sister Jazlynn Totman, 3, and father, Stephen Smith. As the hospital’s New Year’s baby, Remington and her family received a basket of gifts along with a savings bond from the hospital.
